altijd leuk om te weten

Had a great conversation with a contact at quattro GmbH today and learned some very interesting things.

We were talking about the RS5 and he mentioned that it will have pretty much the same normally aspirated V8 as the B7 RS4, but with about 450 hp.

One of the limitations on the B7 RS4 was the challenge of getting enough air in and out of the engine - that it was pretty much 'choked' in the B7 RS4. There's just not enough room in the engine bay to deliver as much air as the engine needs to produce all the power its capable of, and not enough room for a proper-sized exhaust. The B7 RS4 has one throttle body and one air intake, and the RS5 will have dual throttle bodies and three air intakes - one of which will open only at above 5000 rpm. It 'should' also have a larger diameter exhaust system to help with the exhaust flow. Different engine management will also help with the power.

er kan meer uit dat blok gehaald worden, maar er is niet genoeg ruimte voor meer/grote air intakes en uitlaat.

Je hebt ook de begrenzing van het koppel onder 5500 toeren in 1e, 2e en 3e, ergens jammer maar 't is nu niet dat het op zich niet vooruit gaat hé

Goed om zo'n dingen te horen.. ivm die begrenzers.. kan je er zo uithalen via software. JD doet dat bvb, in Sport-mode staat de gasklep en de uitlaatklep altijd 100% open (zoals het moet)

Laat ook 'es je DRC dempers controleren op lekkage, want als je deze moet vervangen buiten garantie = heel duur

Om verder te gaan op die dempers.. ik vond dit op 't net:

Just got a letter in the Mail from Volkswagen of America, Inc./Audi of America, Inc. The letter clearly states that VW/Audi finished developing and testing improved shock absorbers and are in the process of developing the necessary parts to provide all RS6 customers in early August. I have called my dealer and they informed me that the RS4 is included in this replacement. The service will replace all four shocks and validate the DRC System. All at no cost to the customer. Also included was a claim form. This form is to get reimbursement for your payment if you have already paid to have the shocks repaired or replaced. Contact Audi for more info. Spread the word.

Waarom doen ze dat dan niet bij de R8?

Goed opgemerkt. R8 heeft een volledige carbon airbox, 2 gaskleppen dacht ik, andere intake-runners (geen idee de term in NL) en een ander uitlaat traject.

En op rollenbanken zit 'ie maar een 5 à 10 tal pk's boven een RS4..

Tuur Bo z'n kar is 10 keer meer waard als je die zit staan dan die met de C6 RS6-velgen.
