Even though there has been a steady stream of info and previews of Polyphony Digital’s upcoming Gran Turismo 5 for the Playstation 3 ever since the E3 kicked off, it seems like the developers have saved upsome of the interesting features. A recent interview with Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worlwide Studios, now reveals some spectacular features of the upcoming title.
Yoshida both mentions a track editor and weather system, two features that were often hinted at during the past 12 months. Gran Turismo 5 will offer gamers an experience more rich, more in-depth and more exciting than they might expect – even from a series as closely identified with innovation and invention as Gran Turismo. Not only will Gran Turismo 5 deliver an even more comprehensive set of cars and courses than gamers saw with previous iterations, it will also feature new game-enhacing graphical effects such as damage, night racing and weather.
These innovations are twinned with the option to join millions of like-minded individuals globally within the Gran Turismo community and to find a driving experience to suit, whether that is taking on the Top Gear test track, chucking cars around stunt arenas, go-karting, creating and sharing your own track or intense head-to-head races. Who, where and what to drive is completely down to the individual.
Gran Turismo 5 will be bringing 1000 cars and over 60 tracks to the Playstation 3, including new features such as damage, weather and day/night effects. GT5 will be one of the first six Playstation 3 games to be available in 3D. The title will be out on November 2nd in the North & Latin America, release dates for Europe and Japan have not been confirmed yet.
